Use subject line effectively

You can use the subject line to state the purpose of the email. Tell the recipient if you need a reply and by when. For instance, “Please reply by 7p Tuesday 2/8” clearly communicates what you expect from the recipient. Then, the body of the email message can explain briefly what it is you need by Tuesday and why.

Remember, the subject line is the first impression of your message. It also signals effective writing will follow in the body of the email. Keep it short and sweet. Spend time getting it right and you’ll increase the chances of receiving a reply.
