Judge

The last role to inhabit when writing and editing is the judge. Once the carpenter is finished constructing sentences and paragraphs, the judge takes over. The judge is primarily concerned with the details: tone, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typos. S/he solidifies effective writing and professional business communication.

The judge may benefit from reading sentences out loud so that the ear detects things the eye doesn’t.

Remember to save the task of the judge – a critical eye – to the end of your writing process, not when you’re acting like a madman and getting all ideas on paper.
