Ease of reading

As writers, one of our main responsibilities is to make it easy for a reader to comprehend what we’re trying to communicate. In a noisy world, we’re competing for a reader’s attention. They don’t want to strain to understand what they’re reading.

To make it easy for them, use concise sentences. Don’t use fancy words or complicated concepts. Make sure sentences logically flow from one to the other.

Barbara Minto, a well-known writing instructor, has said, “You must recognize that a reader no matter how intelligent he is, has only a limited amount of mental energy available to him to read what you’ve written.”
